HPz240 sff. I shorted the +5v of a usb socket and the computer instantly went dead. There's power to it but no fans ,nothing. No flash or smells, it just immediately died. A usb stick in machine at the time works fine on another machine- so not damaged. I've read there might be short protection. If so how do I reset it? Might it have fried the PSU or the motherboard? I guess it might have shorted to ground or one of the usb data connections. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I pulled the pc back from the mender who was going to replace the psu assuming mb was screwed and it would be a waste of money. I replaced the bios battery just in case and then unplugged the pc from power and pressed the 'on' button for >15 seconds. To my delight it woke up and is now running normally.

also note that the z240 sff and z240 mini tower motherboards are slightly different
the z240 minitower board will not fit the SFF chassis
this is due to the optional PCI connector on the edge of the minitower z240 board
the minitower will accept the sff motherboard,
but you will lose the optional PCI slot option due to the missing connector
minitower:

SFF: (look to left of ram slots for PCI connector option)
