HP xw6600 Workstation
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want replace  RAM DDR2 ECC DIMMs  4 x 1GB  with  8 x 4GB

ACCORDING TO DOCUMENTATION ONLINE >>>

How to: HP xw6600 Workstation - Removing and Replacing the Memory

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-xw6600-workstation/3432821/document/c01319077

So I have some questions

After switching OFF the PC, remove the Power cable, remove other cables, rotate the PC so motherboard look the roof, remove PC case cover, remove the RAM fan, remove the case fan

I first

spray some compressed air to clean from dust the motherboard

remove the RAM DDR2 ECC DIMMs  4 x 1GB  in any order

insert the RAM DDR2 ECC DIMMs  8 x 4GB  in any order with convenience to me and according to Docs "How To",

and since I have 8 chips and 8 slots the insertion order does Not matter!!!

Please confirm - is any Error in this procedure or I am right ???

After put the fans in place and connect cables and power on the PC.

Yes, that will work fine.

I posted recently HERE about using 4 matching specific 8GB sticks in these workstations.  We use 32GB via 4 x 8GB sticks in the several xw6600 that we are still running.  I have been surprised at how snappy these still are with W10Pro64, the 32GB RAM, and two of the very fastest quad cores HP certified for that (E5450, the E0 stepping with the sSpec code to find on eBay of SLBBM).  Also, use of a fast relatively modern Quadro card such as the K2000 (or the K2000D, or especially the K2200) adds significantly to the user experience.  Or, a Quadro 2000/2000D.

I checked today on eBay... the memory was 4 x 6.00 USD for the RAM and 2 x 13.00 USD for the processors.  Roughtly 40.00 for a K2000.

My idea was to get more cooling to each memory stick with that approach.  They are pretty crowded when you have 8 x 4GB sticks all together.
