this question has been asked and answered numerous times pleas use the "search" box to locate previous posts
the z820 has three seperate HD controllers and win 7 reqires drivers for two of the controllers win 10 has support for all 3
the two blue sata ports are native SATA 6GBps (no driver required)
the four ports next to the two blue are the Intel "SCU" ports and require the Intel Enterprise Rst driver (eRST) under win 7
the seven ports along the bottom of the motherboard are the LSI 2803 SAS/SATA ports and require a driver under win 7
the LSI SAS/SATA controller BIOS can be enabled/Disabled within the z820 bios
if sisabled, you can not boot from the LSI ports, but windows will still see any drives attached to the ports once it boots and the LSI driver is loaded for win 7
all nessary drivers/manuls can be found on the HP z820 driver page
