hp z820
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all

I have a hp z820

The device's motherboard has been damaged.

I need to get a motherboard from ebay  or amazon ،But the motherboards have different parts number for different prices.....

..............................................................................................................................................................................................

In another device that had a motherboard with a different part than the host's host, I noticed that the power supply of the two devices was the same and had the same voltage .....

What's the difference between this part number of the names?

I wanted to know what the difference between these motherboards is in what's newer, and can I make another part number of my motherboard ?

thank you...

Mahm00d,

The HP z420, z620, and z820 workstations had a major revision to the motherboard in 2013 which allowed the use of Xeon E5-1600 v2 and -2600 v2 series processors.  The Xeon E5 second versions included increasing maximum core count from 8 to 12 cores, higher processor clock speeds, a higher memory bandwidth, and the maximum memory speed changed from 1600 to 1866.

In my view, if the z820 motherboard must be replaced, consider the advantages of replacing it with Revision 2 board. this will plug in exactly as the original without any modification. This change will be more costly than a version 1 board, but is advisable even if the original series processors and RAM memory are retained as it allows a future, significant upgrade to extend the usefulness of the system.  For example, as of 11.23.17, it is possible to buy a Xeon E5-2680  v2 10-core @ 2.8/3.6GHz for less than $200- and that was $1,723 new. The resale value will also be improved.

There will more than one part number for the version two z820 motherboard as they were revised. The first version was 618266-001 and the number for the second version will also include 708464-001, 708610-001, or a close variation.  The two numbers seems confusing, but it only means that the 2nd version board will plug in where a 1st version board went before.

The Ebay listing mentions 618266-002 (2nd variant of the 1st version) and 708464-001.  However, the closeup of the number shows the board is dated 2012 and "Rev: 1.02., meaning that that particular board is not an E5 v2- capable board. That particular seller is a good one and it's possible the photo is generic, but before considering that listing, verify that the board you receive will include  708464-00x and be dated 2013 or later.  Amazon lists: "618266-003  708610-001  708610-601" and specifically mentions: "Supported: CPU's Intel Xeon E5-2600/e5-2600v2 series processors".  As the Amazon choice is also -$26.00 confidence is much higher in the Amazon choice.

Thank ...

please provide a link to buy the z820 motherboard with a newer part number  of Amazon or eBay....

Is the power supply the same for all motherboards with different parts? Is this correct?

.......................................................................................................................................................................................

Please also note the part number of the latest versions of the new z420 and z620 motherboards in 2013 or later?

Hi all

I found three options for purchase:

What is your offer for purchase?

What's the difference between the three motherboards exactly?

(What is the difference between the number 618266-004 and 618266-003 if number 618266-004 looks more up to date but cheaper than that one.....
Also, according to the photo available on the site ( Rev:1.03) is listed with the dated of 2012.
Also on link number two There is no information about the (Rev:1.0X) and the production time.
)
I'm a little confused about the purchase because there is no clear information about the part numbers.

thank you very much
