Some server NVMe drives in the past have had extra boot code built into their controllers that supplemented the early boot code built into the BIOS of the Z420/Z620/Z820 workstations. We have been using those as our boot drives. What you are looking for is another approach from the past.
Samsung with their 950 Pro M.2 SSD is another potential NVMe boot drive but those only were released in 256GB and 512GB sizes and now are quite difficult to find at a reasonable price new or recycled via eBay. The Intel DC P3700 is available in 400GB, 800GB, 1.6TB and 2TB sizes and these have very high lifetimes and MTBF so we have found them to be excellent value recycled. I have posted HERE in this forum on all the details, and we're running those under W11 latest version 24H2 via use of the latest Rufus 4.7 method.
The thread evolved, and the last few posts have some extra important added details. Good luck on your project.
