I've set up 5 thin clients at a customer site, all connecting via freerdp on HP ThinPro to a Terminal Server running Windows Server 2019.
All of the RDP connection credentials are saved on each thin client and they are set to auto-login to this RDP session each time the thin client logs in, is powered on, or reboots.
Each time any thin client tries to establish this connection for the first time, I receive the "Starting Connection..." dialogue followed by this error:
error message
IMMEDIATELY after clicking Close on this error, the connection tries again and is established successfully.
Why is the initial autoconnect phase failing like this if it can connect no problem on a second attempt?
I've already tried multiple troubleshooting steps, including:
- x2 HP ThinPro Firmware updates to the latest version
- Changing port on the network switch that the thin clients were connected to
- Factory reset of thin clients + reconfiguration of settings
- Increasing the timeout for RDP connection errors
- Checking the Terminal Server side for any RDP issues
I have not been successful in finding a solution for this and honestly HP support has not been that helpful thus far.. Would anyone be able to provide some insight on this issue?
Thanks!
