HP 10bII + Wrong Calculation
01-14-2020 09:40 PM

When calculating FV I keep getting wrong answers
100,000 PV
3 SHIFT N <set to 12 p/yr
4 I
0 PMT
FV should be 112,486 but i get 112,727.19 which is not close enough to be correct
I have reset the calculator twice
how can i fix this?

The answer which you say is the "correct" answer is only obtained when N=3 (not 36) and P/YR=1 (not 12). With the settings you indicated (N=36 and P/YR=12), the 10bII+ does in fact yield the correct result for FV.
Just in case there is some confusion, pressing 12 down-shift PMT sets the number of payments per year to 12, and 3 down-shift N sets the number of periods to 36.
