HP Prime Button Failure
08-30-2019 08:20 AM

I've had the HP Prime for a while and without much use. I've found in the past few weeks the buttons generally on the right hand side of the calculator are non-responsive. I'm having problems specifically with 9, 6, Enter, and Backspace. Ocassionally, the left-hand side black buttons (Apps, Home) will not work either.
I have attempted to do the CFO reset, but I believe the O button is not working.
This calculator is used in an office environment.
It seems I am not the only person to experience button issues with this product.
Has there been any headway in addressing this problem? Or do I add this calculator to the pile of HP disappointments?

Hi!, @Jordawesome :
1) Try, with the point of paper clip and introduce into the bottom of Reset Switch allocated in the orifice, of rear case.
2) Actualize the softare of your calculator, from ... ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/calculators/Prime.
3) If the keys not run OK and your calculator have warranty, you can (if the calculator was purchase in Canada), call to Center of Support and Assistance, of HP, from ...

Hi and thanks for the reply. Sorry I could have been more clear on the steps I have taken:
I have performed all manner of resets, from the simple paperclip, up to the CFO reset and the buttons still act up. Its not consistent though. I can go weeks with all of the buttons working fine, and then have a spell where a few of the right hand side buttons do not. When the buttons are not working, the resets do nothing.
The calculator is out of warranty. If the issue continues, I feel replacement is likely the course of action I will take. I don't think it will be an HP this time -- I'll go off-brand for the first time in 25 years.

Hi!, @Jordawesome :
1) I'm sorry about what's happening to you with the calculator. Check if the front case is tightly closed and is not deformed at its right end.
2) Could you indicate if you have updated to the last version the software, of the calculator that is 2.1.14181 (2018 10 16) ?.
Have a nice day !.

Hi!, @Jordawesome :
With the calculator start on, press ...
The following does a simple Warmstart, recovers keyboard control, restores most of RAM to the state it was in at the last power-down, thus possibly losing changes made in the current session : On-Symb key
Have a nice day !.
