Solved!

HP Prime crashed by 'break' command

HP Recommended
Other

Hello,

I've just bought an HP Prime and I've been playing about trying to learn how to use it. I have a problem with the Demo_BREAK example program.

EXPORT Demo_BREAK()

BEGIN

FOR A FROM 1 TO 10 DO
  B:= (A+3) MOD 5;
  IF B==1 THEN BREAK;
END;
END;

END;

when ever the BREAK command is hit my calculator displays a "The calculator had a problem and will reboot in 3 seconds" message.

Is this a fault specific to my calculator or a general PRIME fault?

Software  Version 2.1.14181 (2018 1016)

Thanks

Steve

Hi Maké,

Thanks for the reply. The RETURN command needs to be between the 2nd and 3rd END command or the program just exits after one loop and the BREAK is never called. I've tried stepping through using the debug mode and the BREAK command is reached but as soon as the program exits, the calculator crashes, so for example

clipboard_image_0.png

displays

clipboard_image_1.png

but as soon as OK is pressed the calculator crashes.  The emulator I took the screen shots with does not have this problem.

Screen shots from my actual calculator

The demo program modified as above

The output following the BREAK

The crash following pressing OK

Calculator software version is

Hi Maké ,

I checked the link but the pragma statement is correct. I would hope it is correct because it is part of the built in demo programs. To make sure I deleted the pragma (got a crash), added it via the menu as per the blog (crashed) and typed it in manually (crashed again).

On the possibility that there was a bug in the stored demo I typed the program in by hand and again got a crash.

I might try to update the firmware again.

PS " I apologize if this document are written in Spanish Language"

Don't worry I work in IT so I know all about pragma statement so it was fairly easy to understand the blog in the context 😀

Hi!, @Sc99cs :

Please, try with key's ... ON+Apps+Esc for delete all RAM (Random Access Memory).

Too, check with ON+Symb.

Then, rewrite the program and try again.

No success. I'll try writing some more complex programs tomorrow to see if I have any success. It would be interesting to know if this is a general Prime fault or just my calculator.

I carried out the format and reset (twice). The error still occurs so it isn't something in memory. That leaves the firmware.
