How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

HP 50g

Hello dear HP community ,

I wondered if there exist solution to type an text , but iniside of plot area , where you can plot graphs ?

That is , I think my worry for now because I don't know if it exist any function to provided me such task :QuestionMark:

So basicly what I'm exactly try to do is to label a points from my drawing , or any drawing ...

here is an example ...

drawing_with_table.pnghere is my drawing with table - list about points information ( ID , y and x coordinate )

I also draw a sketch of above blueprint ( or drawing ) into my HP 50g graphing calculator , but I did not figure out how to label these points with some kind of text ( string ) .

So my final sketch looks like this ( look at the picture below )

ori_gi_gi_HP_50_g.pngupper part of my sketch

And , I just want to label these intersections - places where points are , in order to make something similar as picture below shows .

HP_50_G_EDIT.pngthis is what I want to do ... just label the points ... thanks !!

I appreciate your help !! Forwards !!

Best regards ,

Josip Kova

How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

Hi!, @JKova :

If you needed surveying program for definite coordinates, you can see ... COGO-50, from Jacob Wall ... https://www.hpcalc.org/search.php?query=COGO50&hp49=1

Examplehttps://sgss.ca/files/COGO+_v4_Chapter5.pdf

References : https://sgss.ca/

Too ...

For geodesy ... https://www.hpcalc.org/search.php?query=geodesia&hp49=1

For Closed Polygon ... https://www.hpcalc.org/details/4769 and can see ... see Video ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsYyrMmWQoA

Kind Regards !.

How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

Thanks for your help and eventually solution but I rather want to know how to do it by myself , or by other help because I really don't need a software because I just have almost all materials and now  I don't need , really ,  everything , just label my points in User RPL  if possible , that is it , bye

In the Advanced User's Reference Manual for the 50g, you may want to have a look at the following:

PICT
→GROB
REPL, SUB
GOR, GXOR

Using the above, it's possible to create graphics objects that can then be inserted into the currently-established PICT image. The fun part is in determining exactly where you want to place those objects. The best placement will likely vary depending on the current image contents, so trying to come up with a programmatic way to handle this will require careful consideration.

How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

Yes but what if I want to iterate label ID many times , this is useful yeah but I think not in my case . My task must provide to draw an picture ( sketc ) from coordinates of points and draw a figure which is determined by this points and lines , this is like vector graphics built in HP 50g graphing calculator . When I draw these lines and "points" i just want to add text , or label these elements but not using any external graphics because maybe user want to define own ID for specific point , line ... etc ...

I thought maybe you can place string and somehow define coordinates of corner for that string where it will be placed inside plot area .

But this is "not case" for my task , I supposed 🤔

How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

Dear David_M ,

IF i wrote your name correct ,

Sorry if i be so strict , maybe I'm not at right because at the time when I ( first time ) responded to your message I did not tried anything of your advices that you sent to me !!!

I tried some of things that you wrote to me before and I think that i figure out ...

But also I need to understand GOR function , because I read about that GOR function and this function requires to enter a coordinates where to input your graphics object ... if I understand well ... So i did not looked that things at book that you preferred to use , but , anyway ... it sound great because i think that i finnaly be able to place my object which is point ID or whatever else .

Also I read something little about GOR function and I realize that you can somehow superposed two objects graphical objects , does that means that one graphic object and other one's will be merged toghether ?

Thath's all , thanks a lot man , and sorry for misunderstanding you at the first time , I was confused when I read about PICT becaude I thought I knew that is all about graphics in terms of pictures ( maybe quoted pictures " " ).

That is all that I can say ( write ) for now , I must do the rest , but this time I think that I figure out small part of this huge knowledge and thanks for that man !! 🙂

So I made first step , I write "SINE FUNCTION" from this article below ..

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/71293/Hp-50g.html?page=746#manual

20190603_002849.jpg

So when I want to view I get this ...20190603_002835.jpg

And also i double size of my font and get these ...

Sorry first picture - BIGGER CHARCHTERS , second picture - SMALLER CHARACHTERS

....

anyway , thanks for helping me David ,

Have a nice day ,

Best regards ,

Josip Kova

Hi!, @JKova :

Can you write in this Forum, the equation, what you after plotting the poligonal ?.

Thank you in advance !.

How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

Hi dear @Make ,

There is actually no formula ( equation ) , I'm just want to draw a polygonal shape by using lines , and lines are defined by start and endpoint of each line . I want to label each of these startpoints and endpoints , in a such way that my label stays below that point at place specified by coordinates .

I hope you understand ,

Bye :generic:

How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

Hi Josip -

I have very little spare time right now to respond, but the following example may prove helpful to you:

\<<
   "JKOVA" 3 \->GROB
   "+++++" 3 \->GROB

   \-> g1 g2
   \<<
      g1 { #0 #0 } g2 REPL
      g1 { #0 #0 } g2 GOR
      g1 { #0 #0 } g2 GXOR
   \>>
\>>

If you run the above, you will see the differences in the use of REPL, GOR, and GXOR.  You can think of GOR as "blending" the two graphic objects wherever the dark pixels exist in either image.

An important thing to keep in mind is the difference between coordinates given as binary numbers in a list "{ #0 #0 }" vs. user coordinates given as "(0,0)".  I used the absolute pixel locations in this case because I wasn't altering PICT.  In your case, you'd most likely want to use the user coordinates instead.

I apologize in advance, as I have very limited time for responding to posts these days.  My intent is simply to give you a small example and let you do the rest of the investigation on your own.  I hope the above at least gives you a starting point.  The HP 50g User's Guide also gives some nice examples in Chapter 22 ("Programs for graphics manipulation").

How to write text inside of plot area in HP 50g graphing calculator ?

Dear David ,

You don't have to apologize to anyone , hahah 😁

Thanks for your help , I also have a little time too 🤣

Unfortunately yeah , so I'm so glad to help me at any of this possible ways , by participating and giving me right solutions  that is what I appreciate , so big THANKS !!

I also tried your code , and I think that I know what I need , i think that would be an GOR function because it , like you say "blends" two graphics object together , and that is exactly what I need for my purpose , I mean on program , of course 😄

Also i think that I noticed the difference between , functions ( or whatever that might be ) REPL , GOR and GXOR

This is my picture that shows something about that ..

HP_50_G_GRAFICKI_KALK_2.pngDifferences between using functions ( or commands , or whatever else ) REPL , GOR and GXOR

Thanks for an explanation of all these things too , maybe i will like your answer and accept solution for this task although i have plenty  ( or 'plenty' ) to do if I want to make a program which runs well , like expected ,

Thanks , once more , enjoy in your day ( of course how much you can afford it ) ,

Best Regards ,

Josip Kova
