Hpo50g users - How do you make a residual plot?

HP Recommended
HP50g

My statistics class uses TI 84's to graph a residuals plot.. but I'm finding it difficult to figure out how to do it on my HP50g.

I'm currently using the matrix writer to do linear fits.

From what I understand, I should make a new column in the matrix writer that has COL2  -  (equation of line of best fit).  How would I do this?  Is there a better way to do residual plots?

When I understand you well you want to add a third column to ΣDAT which is

COL2-f(COL1) where f(COL1) is the function of the regression line applied to all elements of column 1.

I found a smart program in another forum:

http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/archv021.cgi?read=232600

It is the last message.

With a small modification this is:

<<
RCLΣ
DUP
→COL
DROP
SWAP
<<PREDV>> MAP
-
3
COL+
STOΣ
>>

When something is unclear please ask it, maybe I or someone else can help you.
