# my hpII calculator is giving incorrect asnwers

I am trying to calculate the following bond value

Face value = \$1000 represented by FV key

Coupon amount = \$30 represented by PMT key

Time to maturity = 20 yrs represented by N key

Market interest rate = 4% represented by I/yr key

my calculator answer gives me -1515.11436 which is incorrect according to the youtube video attached.

what am I doing wrong? I even tried to reset the calculator and it still returns the same value of 1515.11

this is extremely urgent

## my hpII calculator is giving incorrect asnwers

Does your interest COMPOUNDING match the information given? (99.999% of financial "my calculator is giving a wrong  answer" is because of this. You MUST ensure compounding matches or you will never get a correct answer except by chance)

A: No, it  is not. See the  comment made on your video 4 years ago:

"

Didn't work for me, I followed the exact steps as in the video and got \$ -1515.11.  I however am using an HP 10bII PLUS, could that be the reason I didn't get the same value?"

They deail the steps to "fix it".

If there is 1 thing you must do in financial calculations, it is learn how to represent information in correct compounding periods. Else it will always continue to   "give you wrong anwers" because you are giving it wrong information!

Are you using  a 10bII+? If so, use the  bond tool instead for this. Much easier.
