Hi there,

 

i couldn't find a place to submit this bug report, so i'm doing it here.

There is a reproducable bug in HP Image Assistant 4.2.4.1.

 

Bug Scenario (Tested on Win101809/1909):

 

Start HPIA

Create a driver pack

Choose OS: Microsoft Windows 10 1909 (64-bit)840 

Choose Product: HP EliteBook 840 G6 Notebook PC

 

Once you have the list with available drivers/softpaqs, choose some of them, or all whatever.

Download, leave defaults and choose File type: Build ZIP file

Start the process.

 

If you monitor the HPIA downloads folder, you can see that Softpaqs are immediately deleted or moved from the download folder once downloaded. Didn't do any further investigation.

 

The process ends up in massive traffic generation and in a kind of download loop.

Hi,

 

I have been in Contact with HP and they told me the problem should be resolved.

I have tried to OSD a 745 G6 and it worked like a charm 🙂

I have a similar issue, all of my clients had download errors in their logs last night while trying to update their drivers using the latest version of HPIA. It worked fine during last month's run. Today, I tried it with the /debug flag, and uninstalled my antivirus for good measure, but had the same issue: it's downloading the softpaqs, then deleting them right away, in a loop over and over.

I did it again, this time using procmon to see what is causing the deletion, and it's HPIA that's deleting the file.

Something is up with 4.2.4.1 but I haven't got any response from HP.

 

Try with older 4.1.2.1 or 4.0.12.1 they will probably work.

I can confirm that 4.1.2 does not delete the softpaqs during the process, however there is another issue with 4.1.2 version when creating driver packages.

 

According to the logs the zip file building process is interrupted due to missing files in several softpaqs. That might be an issue with the softpaqs and not with HPIA 4.1.2.

I have the same Issue with 4.2.4.1. I have an Open case with HP about this and I hope they will find a solution to this.

 

I also experience some problems with 4.1 during my OSD and I get the same problem when I run the CMD line in full OS, The issue is that it is only installaing part of the SPs during the OSD so after i logg on and run the HIPA I can se that several SPs need to be installed.

Had a call from HP yesterday and according to Level 2 there is a new version of HPIA in the works. When?  they couldnt say.

I hope they get everything sorted out with their DB and HPIA issues. Its a tool that more and more rely on as part of their image process.

Hi,

 

I have been in Contact with HP and they told me the problem should be resolved.

I have tried to OSD a 745 G6 and it worked like a charm 🙂

yes, i can confirm that the problem is resolved.

I created a driver package and it didn't show the issue like before.
