HP Recommended

Hello

as promised.

I started my SCCM Console , I updated HP MIK server to latest version (sp101456 HP MIK server 3.1.15.1.exe)

I installed HP MIK (sp99711 MIk Client 3.1.7.1.exe) on client PC. in this case an 800 G3 DM, it works like the 600 Aio G3 you have.

ON the PC BIOS I manually disabled Wake On LAN.

Using HP MIK in SCCM Console , I created a BIOS configuration Baseline , BIOS is without password.

the only setting I selected was Wake On Lan = BootHD

BiosConfiguration.jpg

I created the policy ad applyed it to collection including my Client PC 800 G4 DM, in Remediate state.

On PC , using SCCM agent I found the Wol_800G3 configuration and evaluated it.

AT the end of evaluation Status was "Error" , because I didn't configured other part of BIOS security, but this is not important as my goal was to change Wake ON LAN setting.

Wake ON LAN setting has been done.

SO I dont' know why is not working with your SCCM Console.

Do you have a second SCCM Console where to install HP MIK ?

this is a _WOL.txt file I capture on Client PC , where you can see that BIOS has been changed:

PSComputerName :

Compliance Result = Non-Compliant
Failed to set BCU policy settings

4 are still sitting at unknown.  It doesn't appear that they have gotten the config.  I have tried updating the config by running Check Device Compliance in Software Center and by running all actions in the Config Manager Utility in the Control Panel.  Seems like they are just getting the update when they fell like it.

I am going to try to change more options instead of just WoL and see what happens as a next step.

@mbriskey

I'm not able to understand the issue you have as I'm just a user like you.

reading your MIK log and compering it with mine I understand:

In Discovery Script section you have

Property Name = _WOL
Expected Property Value = BootOrder   <- this means you want to set "Boot to Normal Boot Order"

....

Property Value = BootHD   <- this is current setting of your 600 G3
Expected Property Value = BootOrder   <- this means you want to set "Boot to Normal Boot Order"
Compliance Result = Non-Compliant

I have

:Property Name = _WOL
Expected Property Value = BootHD      <- this means I want to set "Boot from HD"

.....

Property Value = Disable                          <- this is current setting
Expected Property Value = BootHD      <- this means I want to set "Boot from HD"

in Remediation Script  section I see a lot of differeces, are you really using latest HP MIK client version ?

in case you are not able to change BIOS setting using HP MIK, are you interested to try with a differente way such as one of these.

  1. running biosconfigutility.exe on the remote computer , I guess that SCCM can help on this, but I'm not a SCCM user.
  2. using a powershell cmdlet created by HP able to set BIOS parameter, and send the command to client collection, using SCCM , as PS script
  3. using a powershell cmdlet created by HP able to set BIOS parameter, and send to setting to client PC via windows remote management (need to have winrm already configured)

bye

Unfortunately everything is current.  I just installed the client a week or two ago to attempt to enable wake on lan for every machine on our campus so we didn't have to turn machines on by hand while everyone is working from home.

I'm going to try the powershell method just to see if I can get this working but I'd prefer to have it running through SCCM for the reporting.  I'm also attempting to try boot to hard drive in another test just to get things working.  Again, booting to boot order would help in out in my computer labs.

Thanks for your help.  If I can't get anything to work I'm going to reach out to our sales person to see if I can get any assistance that way.
