Print & Scan Doctor 5.2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The Print & Scan Doctor 5.2 has stopped completing the scan correction procedure about two-thirds of the way through ... multiple times now ... and it is no longer repairing the scanning function on my Desk Jet 4535. Do I need to uninstall/reinstall this program?

@FrankSpitzig1,

Thanks for reaching out to the HP Support community!

Do you have any issues printing or scanning from the printer?

Let's try these steps:

Step 1: Delete the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • On Windows Start Menu, type 'Run'
  • Open the 'RUN' desktop app
  • type 'c:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Diagnostics\PSDR' in the text field

  • click OK
  • Delete the PSDr files in the folder.

Step 2: Remove the 'temp' files from your PC.

  • On Windows Start Menu, type 'Run'
  • Type '%temp% in the text field.

  • Click OK.
  • Delete all the files in the 'temp' folder

Step 3: Reboot the PC

Step 4: Re-install the HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Use this link to download the latest version of HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • Open the downloaded file and install it
  • Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

Let me know if this helps.

Hello, Atharva_gp,

Your solution looked like it was going to work, but when I got to step 2, the computer wouldn't delete the Temp folder.  It kept saying that the folder was open and I'd have to close it first.  But I couldn't find anywhere that the file was open, so ... no, sadly, your solution didn't work.  But thanks for trying.

@FrankSpitzig1,

  • Try closing all the files and open applications and then delete all the files under the 'temp' folder.
  • Reboot the PC.
  • Re-install the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Use this link to download the latest version

Let me know if this works or if you need any further help.

Cheers!

Hello, ATHARVA_GP,

While trying to delete the Temp files ... working one-at-a-time ... I was able to delete everything except the following file:

FSXAPIDebugLogFile, apparently because the file was open somewhere on Internet Explorer, except I didn't have IE open on my computer at the time.  Do you have any specific advice that will work?  Thanks!

@FrankSpitzig1,

You may not be able to delete all the files under 'temp'. You can skip those files.

Reboot PC and install the Print and Scan Doctor from this link.

Try to launch the Print and Scan Doctor and check if you can use its features.

Cheers!
