Twice today  I've used a link given by the person resolving my problem/answering my question but they both opened in the existing window.

Can the process be changed so that the link opens in a new window, please?

PS I created a similar thread a few minutes ago and when I clicked on 'Post' I got page not found, When I tried to come here in a new tab (IE11) there was a strange message from you saying "we are trying to deal with your request" and a barber pole telling me that something was happening. When I got through whenever I clicked on any link eg my name, your list of Boards, I kept getting Page NOt Found. Not a problem as I'm here now but just in case you need to know.

HP "rents" this Forum software from a company named "lithium".

This Forum is of a "peer-to-peer" design, basically users helping users.  If there are a lot of folks requesting a change to the design, or reporting a bug, then they might take notice.  I haven't heard of others complaining about this issue, though I understand your point!

Now that you know the "trick", it takes a minor amount of effort to open in a new window.  🙂

Assuming you are using a Windows PC, just "right-click" on the link, then choose "Open in new Tab" or "Open in new Window".

Works for all live links.

Thanks for that WyreNut. I've Windows 10 so I'll do that next time.

I've not had to do it before because every forum I go to opens in a new screen automatically. Will this suggestion still go to HP?

You need to talk to the author of the post.  when creating links with the "chain" editing icon above, you can select whether it opens in a new page or not.

But this is moot as WyreNut mentioned since you can just use the middle button to open in a new tab, at least in firefox.
