Others have posted here and support has reached to assist.  The issue described below appears to be common.

My lightly used laptop (unfortunately a few months out of warranty)  broke unexpectedly today.

The left hinge broke through the display bezel instead of opening normally.   From my examination of the damaged hinge it would appear that a fastener was "missing" on original assembly.

The laptop was given to  me by a non-profit organization for whom I serve as their volunteer web master.

I'm quite certain that it's "not in the budget" for this PC to be replaced so soon.

For now I"m using the laptop with an external monitor.

I would appreciate an option for a low cost repair.
