My problem is resolved, I just wanted to publish it in case it might help others.

I replaced my old Printer with a new HP ENVY 5530 Printer and installed it via USB to my computer.  Shortly thereafter, my computer started returning the alarms of "Device Disconnect" and "Device Connect", very frequently, to the point that it became quite annoying.  Also, if I was trying to Print something during one of these epsodes, the printing would quit at that point and only print a partial page.  I know it was coming from the Printer, because if I turned it off, the noises quit.

On my computer, I use so many USB devices that I had to install a plug-in card with four additional USB ports.  My printer was plugged in to one of those ports.  As it turnd out, in going through my process of replacing things to isolate the problem, I discovered that the USB port that the Printer cable was plugged in to had gotten bad somehow, and simply moving the Printer Cable to another USB port solved the problem.

Again, I don't need any help with this issue, but I thought a recount of my experience might help someone else with a similar problem in the future.
