HP 17 z purchased in December 2017 not working

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased an HP 17z laptop in December 2017. Now the cooling fan is not working and the battery will not hold a charge. Tried everything support suggested to no avail. Unbelievable that a less than two year old computer is basically worthless. Very disappointing.
