HP Envy 4500
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This HP Envy 4500 all-in-one is several years old but I assumed it was still under warranty because a few months before the original manufacturers warranty was about to expire I received an email from HP offering me a chance to buy a 2-year extension. I did so on 10/05/17, so the product should be covered until 10/05/2019, right? Well, actually no because for some reason I neglected to "register" the extended warranty after receiving the email confirmation that I had purchased one. Now that my Envy 4500 has died on 01/21/2019 I'm just out of luck according to an HP customer service phone rep because HP's policy is to take your money for an extended warranty, but unless you register the warranty, they will not honor it! Register a product warranty? I've never had to do that with any other product in my life. If you buy an extended warranty, it is immediately valid as soon as the seller of the warranty has your money. HP, you just lost me as a customer for life!

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Support Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
