HP Envy Notebook Touch Smart
It's been quite a while since my laptop hasn't turned on and I need to fix it. When I tried using it, there was nothing to indicate that it was even working. No light or anything. I even tried multiple hard resets and still nothing. I noticed I had this issue right after I updated it to Windows 10. I'm not tech savvy at all, would that be an issue? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Karissamm2020,

Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I Understand you are having issues with your laptop won't start or boot  into the Windows desktop screen anymore, it's nice of you to help!

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Please let me know the exact product model no. This link will help you to find the model no: http://hp.care/2bygf7l

Did you perform a hard reset? or is that what you meant by hard boot?

Does your friend know if he either interrupted or installed any recent update that could have caused this issue?

Does the computer have an active Anti-virus/spyware software?

While you respond to that, here's a few things you should know:

The best way to do that is using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:

Click here to access it (simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).

CLICK HERE FOR MORE STEPS AND INSTRUCTIONS.

Also, to answer your questions about repair, if the above links conclude a hardware failure, repair would be free if the computer is within the 1yr factory warranty, however, if it isn't, depending on what's faulty, you can always check with either the local store or the HP Parts store for charges on part replacement and replace it on your own.

That said, personally, if it's the motherboard it would be smart to get an upgrade rather than repairing the old one, considering the time and money that would go into this kind of service, the choice is yours and only yours

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
