HP Spectre x360 burnt motherboard

Hi,

I’m based in the UK and have just experienced the burnt motherboard issue on my 2015 HP Spectre x360. 

 

Having looked on this forum and online it seems that this is a very common problem with this model.  Considering that this was meant to be a high end product (and not cheap) it’s appalling that HP haven’t offered to fix this for free. Instead I’ve already been charged by Curry’s/PCWorld £90 for data recovery and £60 to assess repair. Now they are quoting me another £250 to replace the motherboard and also told me two keys are cracked (plus about four other keys have the letters worn away).  I’ve declined the repair. I’m back using my Dell Studio 1555 which is still going strong after 10 years. 

 

Very disappointed with HP and I’ll be warning everyone I know to steer clear.  This product should have been recalled (as many other people have stated on this forum).
