Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought my HP laptop and HP printer about 1½ years ago, and contacted HP Support almost immediately afterwards to fix an issue with my HP printer's warranty.  So why have I only just (ie, this morning) received an email welcoming me to the HP Support Community with the new rank of New Member, telling me that I " can now fully participate in the HP Community"?  I am interested to know what has prompted this email after so long -- has HP become desperate for active members?
