Warranty on brand new 255 G7 Notebook started 4 months before purchase

HP 255 G7 Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a brand new HP 255 G7 Notebook from BT online on 20 Jan 2020. (Receipt available).

Today - 1 Feb 2020 - I unboxed it, started it and carried out the wizard-driven basic set-up before registering it with HP.

Once registered, I checked the warranty status only to find that the warranty had been running since 20 Sep 2019: It is "Active" and due to expire on 19 Oct 2020. (HP Support Assistant confirms the same date).

As the machine was sold with a 12 month warranty (from purchase) the warranty should expire on 19 Jan 2021.

How do I go about getting the warranty expiry date corrected?

Hi:

For whatever reason they do it, HP starts the warranty clock ticking the minute the PC leaves the assembly plant.

So the longer the PC sits in a reseller's warehouse, the less time remains on the warranty.

Since your 255 G7 is considered a business-class notebook, there isn't any way that I know of to get the warranty start and end dates corrected online.

You can call HP customer service for business PC's Monday - Friday between 08:00 - 18:00 at 0207 660 0403 and speak with a customer services rep to get the warranty start and end dates corrected.
