HP Recommended

A friend purchased my new HP Pavilion in December for me. I just went into HP and found that the warranty had expired on October. So, what HP is saying is that they are permitting computers to be sold with expired warranties.  What I wanted was to find out why the computer is the slowest I've ever had, but if I have to pay for an answer, I guess I'll manage with snail pace until I can afford a faster one.
