why did the forum recently email me a posting from 2 years before I posted a solution to a problem, and ask me if it solved my problem? It posted me the original question on this topic.

and to make matters more puzzling, the forum just now sent me an email awarding me 'creative commentator' status.

It is an odd result from the maintenance that is currently underway on the HP Forum.
It should not have happened, it is not comon -- it has happened a few times to other Experts.
Just ignore it; the notification was an error.
The badge is probably connected, although since it is not a bad thing, just enjoy it. Smiling.
