I called 800-474-6836 (HP Tech support) to resolve a problem with my laptop. The problem I have is that
sometimes the battery icon shows that it's plugged in but not charging.
I called a total of 5 times, and here is how it went.
(1) call routed to Philadelphia
Updated BIOS, HP S/W
The tech said he would call me the following day, but I never got a call.
(2) call routed to India
The tech said there was no record my first call.
Updated BIOS, HP S/W
The tech said she would call me in two days. Never got a call.
She provided a case number (1175168682).
(3) call routed to Philippines
The tech said that the case number given on day 2 is not a valid one.
Asked me to calibrate the battery by fully draining and charging again.
Asked to press down the on/off switch with battery out.
Jericho gave me a case number (8057181922) and said he would call me. He never did.
(4) call routed to Philippines
The tech said the case was escalated and someone would call me the next day.
Never got a call.
(5) call routed to Mumbai
The tech said that the case was NOT escalated and he said that he would escalate the case.
He told me that I would get a call in 24 to 48 hours.
He told me that I will get a replacement battery.
I'll see.
Is this how a global company such as HP runs its tech support? My warranty has 1 day left.
They all tried to sell me the extended warranty while this was going on.
I've wasted 5 hours (1 hour each time I called). Never buying an HP again.
