The same problem happened to me.  The crack on my laptop started from the upper left hand side and has since branched down my screen.  I have been very careful with this laptop and even use the case along with my namebrand laptop bag, so I dont know what caused it..  I used my laptop before getting to school, and put it in my same back pack that i've been using.  Once in class i opened it up, there was a crack.. Seemingly from nowhere.  I just bought this laptop last semester mainly for the touch screen, and now I cant even use it..  I'm so disappointed with this situation..
