I purchased a HP Pavilion DV8-1090EV Laptop having Sl No CNF9424TOR and Model No: VJ745EA#ABV which had one sticker on the back showing 1 year warranty and 2nd one on the front panel next to mousepad showing 2 year warranty. This was purchased from EMAX in the Sultanate of Oman, who are only selling products and have no idea about the product or its warranty terms and direct all customers to contact the After Sales Support company, which in this case is Redgington. According to Emax, they are not responsible for any warranty or After Sales Support, which I understand.
Upon contacting your After Sales Agent Redington in Oman, I was told that certain selected models carry additional warranty free of charge hence the reason for this second sticker. Howeer, upon contacting HP Call Centre I was told that this 2nd sticker is to give an opion for the customer to avail care pack after expiry of the 1st year warranty, but my laptop is neither entitled for care pack nor 2nd year warranty as this particular model was manufactured in 2008, but there is a sticker showing 2 year warranty affixed by HP. Warranty starts from the date of purchase and not from the date of manufacture as Cusomers will not know when the prduct was manufacatured (like automobiles!!!) My 1st year warranty expirred on 18th August, though the extension of warranty issue was taken up with Redgington well before that date for which HP has not responded properly to Redington.
I have been in Oman for over 30 years and have purchased and availed HP support for various HP products such as PCs, Laptops, Pinters etc etc for our Group, I am surpriised HP have started to cheat customers by providing such false stickers on the product which is not honoured by your After Sales Agents. One thing is very clear that your quality controls system does not function professionally or else this extended warranty sticker of 2 years would have got updated in your system where only 1 year warranty is appearing. I did send photographs of the laptop with two year sticker on it and even Redington Oman verified that to your support team. I feel sorry about Redington Oman who is having to face customers as there is no HP representative office in Oman. May I request that someone looks into this deal seriously to keep the high standard reputation of HP. Regards U K Panicker {Personal Information Removed}
