Recently my computer crashed and had to buy a new one. When everything was setup and updated on the new computer i have been having issues printing the designjet 500. From what i have read on the internet it seems like there was a Windows up that has rendered this printer useless. My problem is that i am a small business owner and cannot afford to look for a new large format printer just to skimp around this update issue. Has there been any updates recently that could help alleviate this problem? Just FYI wWindows was able to install the driver and recognises the printer, but keep getting errors when trying to print
I am at a loss with these dumb updates that something was working perfectly fine prior with no new updates to rectify the problems they caused.

it just says "cannot print document" or "an error occurred while printing the document". THe driver was installed through windows and shows its online, but printer never receives files to print. i had an older computer with windows 10 that never had this issue until recently when i had to buy a new computer. Now i cant print and have to outsource it.

Hi ,
I assume plotter does internal prints correctly? Like prinhead alignment? Try downloading driver directly from HP.COM. Sometimes there are differences with the one thru Microsoft Windows. Try to connect some other printer in USB same port you are using for plotter? Old computer still plots well?

Yes, the previous computer had no issues printing and everything seems to work on the printer itself.
Does HP have a driver they could send me via email? all the drivers from the website are zip files. what do i do with those since i dont see any exe. files in it?

Try the HP DJ "510" hpgl2 driver. I have used it before with Win 10, but I am assuming you now have Win 11.
....and for the Win auto updates: In network settings I turn "on" metered connection to "stop" them. Maybe to my detriment for needed updates but how many updates are really needed? I don't know. I guess MS thinks all of them.
