HP Designjet 800 wont work with an expired print head cartridge, is there anyway around this?

My HP Designjet 800 wont work with an expired print head cartridge, is there anyway around this? Having problems finding cartridges that's not expired.

The DJ 800 does not have "Print Head Cartridges", it has "printheads" and "ink Cartridges". And, yes, they will work with ink cartridges that are beyond the 'expiration" date. Printheads will not work if defective, not sure which message you are seeing on the display.

Well I guess the print head is defective, it shows an "X" in the print head slot and ask that it be replaced.

You will have to replace the print head. But first try cleaning the printhead contacts and the contacts on the carriage slot with a q-tip and alcohol or water. If that doesn't work use a dental pick, sharp object or small wire brush to clean the contacts on the printhead.
