HP DesignJet T520 36"
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I am a HP DesignJet T520 36" printer. I am trying to figure out what setting can be changed so when there's black in a picture it uses the BLACK cartridge and NOT the colors making a black. First off it empties the color cartridge way too fast, and secondly it's not as black as the black cartridge. I really need my res of black to printer black and not an off black or dark grey on color graphic design compositions.

Check the print driver, there should be an option to print black as black and not gray scale.

Where would I find that?

Thank you!

Yes, it would good to know how to print dark black on a color photo.

I printed on HP everyday photopaper (200g) and select glossy paper and / or advanced photopaper and both are not black. Its a gray black, or a light blue.

And yes, all cartridges are full and functioning.
