Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi all I have a design jet Z2100 which I would like to disable ink level monitoring to enable the use of refilled cartridges. Can anyone advise on how to do this, have checked lots of forums but can’t find any advice. I am running windows 7 and using the hp utility, but can’t find anything in the software or printer driver to turn off cartridge protection. Thanks Degs2

Are you refilling your own cartridges or buying refilled ones online?

If you're buying refilled cartridges online, look for ones that have new chips that can be read by your printer.

If refilling your own there are kits on Ebay, assuming your using HP 70 cartridges.  For example:

These use Auto Reset Chips (ARC) which will do as indicated; will reset to full after it reaches empty.  I've never used one so have no experience with them but you can google ARC and there's a wealth of info.

As to your original question, I don't think there's a way to disable the ink level monitoring feature.  I don't think it would be in the computer software or driver, rather it would be on the front panel menu on the printer.  Please check your operator's manual.  If you don't have one, google the model number and a few dozen sources will pop up where you can download one for free.

Good luck.

I don't work for HP....I just repair their printers.

Thanks for the response, I am hoping to refill hp carts, I don’t use the printer that much so was hoping to avoid the expensive of new cartridges. I will have a look in the manual and see if it mentions anything.

thanks
