Hi. I have non-HP cartridge that isnt accepted by the printer. Can firmware downgrade help? and how to do it?

You are more likely to have a defective non-HP cartridge that a firmware lock.

Actually it says that the cartridge is damaged or have failed, but I thought the error was due to firmware. So another non-HP cartridge might work?

There is only one way to know that is to try with another ink cartridge.
