I am trying to print a 24" x 52" PDF. When I configure the paper size to be 24" x 52" I get this error: "The page size limits as defined by the PPD are a minimum height of 11 in. and a maximum height of 36 in." and the paper size resets to 24"x36".

The solution is to install the Printer drivers directly from the HP website. The macintosh recognizes the T120, and automatically loads a printer driver for it, but this driver has the 36" limitation. The driver available directly from HP supports arbitrary vertical sizes.

I will confess that i am not a Mac expert, however in windows you can set custom page sizes and if that option exists in MAC taht is what you need to do. Set a custom size of 24x52 and save as a selectable custom option.

The problem is back. I'm not happy with HP.
I tried installing the HP drivers again. The problem persists. The printer does not need a firmware update.
This is a very expensive printer, and the software is not good.

THIS time I solved the problem by deleting the old Printer from the Printers and Scanners section of System Settings.
Then I created a new Printer entry for the T120, and now I can define paper any height I want. And it works.
HP really needs to fix their software. It's really bad.
