HP T210 printer
Microsoft Windows XP

I bought this plotter because it said that it would work  with my xp computer. I use a drawing program that about 25 years old. It is a great program and is compatible with autocadd so I have no intention of changing to a more recent version. However, now I understand that HP does not support XP any longer. There must be a driver out there somewhere that will work with this printer

If you are connecting via USB you may have troubles getting it to work at all. If you can network the printer then you may be able to use a driver designed for an older but similar plotter or you may find that Autodesk may have a driver available as they often publish their own drivers to ensure clients can use their plotters with their software but that is typically drivers for very old plotters.

Hi @jskdisgruntled

Windows XP is not supported by Microsoft since many years ago and because the T210 is a new machine and they don't provide more support for Windows XP there is not an HP driver for it neither.

Thanks for your reply. I bought this printer because it clearly stated that it would work with Windows XP,7,8, &10. Now I find that it doesn't and I'm not happy. Is it possible that there is  driver out there somewhere that could be downloaded?

hi, where did you get the information about it is supported under XP because if you go to hp.com you won't find XP under the compatible operating systems and there is no driver at all for XP that you can use

Harry CR:  Would he be able to use a driver from a different OS?  I've had success with other printers doing this.

Go to the same page you searched for the XP driver and change your OS to Windows 7.  Be sure you select the correct bit, either 64 or 32 bit for your computer.  Look for the PCL 3 driver and try that one.  No guarantee it will work but worth a try.

Does your drawing program offer a forum?  Sometimes you can find the older drivers on the forum.  I know AutoCAD does, not sure about others.  What CAD program are you using?

Thanks so much. I'll try those suggestions. I've used Generic Cadd since the 90's. It was bought out by autodesk and they made autocadd out of it. I also use autocdd R14. They are so old that neither  are supported any longer. I'll let you now how this turns out.

I know what you mean.  I started out with TurboCAD back in the 90's when I found it in a store for $29.99.  Now it runs about $2K per seat.  Tried to switch over to AutoCAD but found it was more clumsy than T-CAD so I just stuck with T-CAD.  Way too old to change now.  Plus I retired and only do occasional drawings so no point trying to learn AutoCAD now.

Let us know how the driver comes out for you.

I tried your suggestions and nothing was evident in any of the posts. However, what I did was order another program that is compatible with AutoCADD that will work on my windows 10 laptop. I can print to  the HP T210 from it. So, if this works, my problem is solved. I'll know by the end of the week when that program gets here. I really appreciate your input and concern.
