Ink cartridges needing replacement at 44% full

HPDJ T2300
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Our HPDJ T2300 Plotter stopped printing. It wanted us to replace ALL print cartridges. Print cartridges were at 44% full status and had an expiration date of 2020. It seems to me that was a lot of ink still to be used. The plotter would not work untill all cartridges were replaced. Is there anything we can do to reset the sensors and use the remaining ink?
