Magenta color fades away while printing??!!

I'm printing full color posters for a living using my HP Designjet 500. I've had absolutely no issues...until the other day!

While printing a poster of a subject that was primarilly cherry red, the red started dropping off until all I had left was yellow in the prescribed area.

I popped in a new Magenta cartridge, with no improvement.

I bought a new printhead for Magenta, and carried out several small test prints. Everything seemed to be better.

I went back to printing the previous (large) subject matter...and the red color started dying out again, just like before!

This is extremely frustrating! Not to mention expensive!

Any suggestions?

Your issue is probably air in the magenta line. You need to get a syringe and draw ink with the magenta printhead removed sticking the needle in the rubber gasket the pin of the printhead goes into. Once you have no air pockets in the magenta line you will have to replace with a new printhead since the one you just replaced probably has air in it
