Outdoor Vinyl Signs

HP Recommended
HP 4000 PS

I have an HP 4000 PS large format printer in my lab.  I know it will take Vinyl, but can the signs be used outdoors without any other coating?  If not, what can I buy to coate them to make them weather proof and fade proof (know that some fading will accure).

hi, the 4000 seris can print on a number of vynal medias.

But this seriee does not have long life ink. or archival ink.

this meeans they fade pretty quickly even in strong indoor lighting. (compered to pigmented ink)

the black ink is pigmented but the rest of the inks are dye.

for long life indoor prints you will need a pigmented ink printer ie: a Z-series HP Designjet.

for long life out door you will need a latex inkprinter IE: L-series HP designet.

you can however use a liquid laminate to add some UV protection.
