Hello, I have a Z5200ps that I use for printing photo on canvas, my teenage daughter has taken photography as a subject at school and wants access to the printer, is there a current and affordable laptop that I can buy my daughter that is compatible with my printer as I am loathe to shell out on another Mac or top end machine for something that may be a flash in the pan.

Many Thanks all 🙂

I have a Dell E6510 and and E6410.  Both run 8 gig of memory.  The 6510 uses Windows 7 and the 6410 uses Windows 10.  Both are older machines but handle everything pretty well.  I hook up to a lot of different Designjet plotters as part of my hobby and use AutoCAD 2020 plus other CAD programs but not too much photo programs other than the occasional Adobe products.  I've never had problems with the laptops connecting and, once figuring out the different configurations for printing, never have trouble.  The only problem I've run into is connecting to a Designjet 4500 using Firewire because that model didn't come standard with a USB connection ($500 option from HP!).  But I use a cross over ethernet cable and connect to the ethernet port on the laptop and it works just as well.  Both laptops came with wireless WI-FI so the ethernet port is free for connecting to the printer.

I won't buy any other brand because Dell support is so easy to use and they do a good job keeping drivers updated for their laptops.  But I would suggest an SSD if she's doing photo-heavy work.  You can buy a good used Dell for a couple hundred bucks, depending on where you shop.  I've had good luck on Ebay but check the specs closely.  YMMV.
