macOS 10.14 Mojave

I have a T3500 that is otherwise happy, but won't print. Just "waiting to print"

The printhead shows an "X" on the console, and going in says its status is OK with error code 80000. Service manual says that code is "Out of warranty"

If I perform a printhead replacement with the same head, it finishes by saying the replacement is "not complete". Is that because of the 80000 error code or something else? No explanation is given for why the replacement is "not complete". I have cleaned contacts etc.

Also, is the "X"ed printhead the reason the machine won't print? I hope "out of warranty" doesn't blindly block printing. That would mean I'd have to buy a new printhead every year even if I only use it a few times.
