You said you can print a test configuration page from the printer screen?  The IP address should be on that page.

When I type in the address, it says it can not connect- Unable to establish a connection. There are a lot of settings on the printer that may need to be changed in order to connect?

Was the IP address on the configuration page?

HP Recommended

Yes it was. I pinged that address, and it sent and recieved 4 packets, yet when I put the address in the browser, it can't connect. Maybe I should type the address in the cmd prompt

You need to type that address in the standard tcp/IP address port in printer properties underived the ports tab .

If you go to devices and printers, is Designjet 1050c printer there?

HP Recommended

I think you need to start from scratch again. the driver you installed is not the same as mine.

go into control panel- devices and printers and delete the printer if it is in there.

then with your printer hooked up with the ethernet cable, click on ADD a Printer - do not select a printer from the list, just click next.

select add a local or network printer with manual settings, click next.

select create new port, open dropdown menu and select standard TCP/IP Port, click next.

type that IP address from configuration page in the line - Hostname or IP address, pic a name for your printer and click next.

see what that does for you
