Considering this plotter only has 1 roll, I would think your issue is the driver. Suggest you remove the printer driver from the computer, turn the computer off and then back on and then reload the printer with the correct print driver.

Can you give us the history of the machine. Did you own it when it worked fine as a 4000? Did you just acquire it and now have this issue. It could be that someone replaced parts on the plotter from a 4500 and now the printer thinks its a 4500.

Company machine, had issue in the past 6 months with leaking ink....tube system and trailing cable was replaced. Pci interconnect board, main logic board, carriage board and print mech board all replaced. And printer still leaked ink, then replaced ink tube and trailing cable again and problem solved. New tube and cable was defective. Believe all the other parts were replaced with original parts. Which of those parts would make the printer think its a 4500? Mainboard for 400 and 4500 are the same

I assume so piece of hardware is making the plotter think it is a 4500, but which piece would hold the machine type and printer serial #

To be honest I do not know which parts contain the model and serial number and with all the parts changed and now the firmware upgrade you may have a very bad situation.  Attached is the utiltiy you use when both the hard disk and the tube assembly are changed at the same time since the tube assembly and the hard disk contain that information and the plotter looses it if both are replaced since they act as backups for each other. Try the utility first to see if that solves the issue. You may have to reload the firmware again.  Good Luck.

The one thing you did not change was the hard disk which should have had the correct information. When you changed the tube assembly either the first or second time, if it had been used then it contained the information about the model and serial number of the 4500 which is the root of the problem. If the utility does not let you change the model and serial number which is possible then you may be out of luck. It is also possible if you find a used hard disk that was used in a 4000ps and install it the machine "may" come back to be a 4000ps.
