Product: HP DesignJet 800ps Printer (42 in)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I have a hp designjet 800PS 42" plotter with firmware version A.02.04. The update software says not to use if you have firmware lower than A.02.06. It says to contact hp support. Can this firmware be updated? I read a post that a person used an old Windows XP system to get and install a newer firmware. Then it looks like he was able to install the newest driver from a newer computer. I do not have a working Windows XP.

In some cases a firmware update needs to be stepped and that sounds like the case here as the current firmware is A.02.12. So you likely need to find firmware A.02.06 and install that first. I may have that archived at work and will check for you on Tuesday.

I am going to try to set up a virtual Win XP on my computer and try to get a intermediate firmware update. If I can get the firmware updated from my current version I will be able to use the most recent firmware update.
