Designjet Z5400
macOS 10.12 Sierra

We are trying to bring production of small-batch magnetic signs in-house, using our wide-format Z5400. But our usual paper vendor doesn't stock any magnetic material for a pigment-based inkjet printer like ours, and web sources for magnetic sheets and rolls warns that some machines can actually be damaged by using magnetic stock.

I can't find anything in our user manual about this. Just wondering if anyone uses HP Designjet printers for printing on magnets? If so, can you share what materials/vendors you use?

Thanks!

Sorry, but telling me to buy a new printer isn't particularly helpful. Thanks anyway.

Hi,

Could you please share your media actual name with sample copy snaps. I am confirm to you their no printer for HP DesignJet printer based product which supported to Magnetic stock.

Because, Magnetic tape. Magnetic tape is a medium for magnetic recording, made of a thin, magnetizable coating on a long, narrow strip of plastic film. It was developed in Germany, based on magnetic wire recording. Devices that record and play back audio and video using magnetic tape are tape recorders and video tape recorders.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

Good luck

It took a while, but I THINK you're trying to say that none of HP's DesignJet printers will accept magnetic stock.

Not sure what your brief history of recording tape has to do with anything.

But thanks anyway...
