Printer shutsdown on startup

Just got this printer and I'm puzzled.

No paper loaded, I start the printer. It seems to go through an initialization phase, and when I see what to seem to be the left motor turn  (with a transparent disc showing numbers) about a third of a turn, then silence, and I see the printer shutting down and restart. While it restarts, even the JetDirect stops answering to pings and the power-on timer on the jetdirect resets.

 

Using the maintenance utility I can see "printer state: Error 6", which I can't figure what it means.

 

The LCD then shows this, with the top icons flashing as well as the yellow warning light under the Check button.

I remove the paper roll option, same problem. When the printer is off, I can turn the paper feed assembly and I can't feel it blocking, seems normal to me.

Thank you, but the printer itself doesn't spit any error code.

It initializes, then turns the feed motor for a second or two, then shutdown and reboot, to show the image I included, with the top icons flashing.

 

Using the maintenance software, the status page shown on the screen simply says "error code 6".

 

The power supply gives the correct voltage (voltmeter) and doesn't seem to vary at all (Oscilloscope).

 

I am puzzled.
