Phone:  vvx 600

Firmware:  5.0.1.7310

VoIP:  Office 365/Lync

Q1:  Is it possible to sign-in from the Web Config Utility?

From Phone:

Sign-in Address:  email address

Domain: leave blank

User: email address

Password: Office 365 PW

From Web config Utility (Simple Setup / SIP Line Identification):

Display Name: leave blank

Address:  email address

Authentication User ID:  email address

Authentication Password: Office 365 PW

I could not sign-in (or link my phone) to my Office 365 Account from the Web config Utility.  After entering the above the phone did populate the "Sign-in Address" from the Web Utility to the Phone but not the other fields (user id  & pw), why?

Q2: Is it possible to sign into the phone/Office 365 account with a pin?

Hello Lightjag,

Please be aware of the following when utilizing UCS 4.1.0 or later:

The use of Polycom UC Software versions 4.1.X (“Software”) requires the purchase of a separate Software license for every device that will use the Software in a Lync environment. You may not install, access, or use the Software in a Lync environment on more devices than are listed on your license until additional licenses have been purchased and authorized by Polycom. These licenses should be purchased from the same company from which you purchased the devices. You may operate devices against a Lync server for trial purposes for up to 30 days without purchasing a license. Use of the Software is subject to the terms and conditions of the End User License Agreement.

Polycom reserves the right to audit your deployment to verify that you have sufficient licenses to match the number of devices being used.

Information in regards of License Part Numbers can be found => here <=

As stated above please ensure you have a valid license to use any LYNC software with Polycom phones.

  • Who provided these instructions?

  • Is the phone running base profile or LYNC mode?

q1: is it possible  to set the sign-in to the phone from the web config utility?  (when setting  up a phone it is easier to: enter an email address &  pw from a full size keyboard than from the phone).

a2: I  am just confirming my understanding of your answer.  I

It is not  possible to sign-in to the vvx600 phone with a pin (which would take the place of a pw), becuase the vvx 600 phone is a non CX phone.  (It would be nice to have the pin sign-in function on a future software update.)

Hello Lightjack,

please ignore my message in regards a moved post.

In order to answer your first question:

  • Polycom does not officially support to sign in via the Web Interface.
You can use BToE to pair a Phone via your LYNC Client

  • Polycom Phones support PIN & Extension since software UCS 4.1.0
It works exactly the same way as a CX Phone.

Please be aware that using UCS 4.1.x or UCS 5.x.x will require a per phone license as outlined in my original reply.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

Note: my phone is connected to office 365 / Lync.

"Polycom Phones support PIN & Extension since software UCS 4.1.0

"

1) How do I set up a PIN sign-in on a vvx600 phone?

2) Once PIN sign-in is enabled:  if I go to another vvx 600 phone and enter my email and pin will it sign me in without the pw?

Hello Lightjack,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's VoIP => FAQ <= contains this post here:

Dec 6, 2011 Question: What Phone Models support the LYNC 2010 or LYNC 2013 Features added in UCS 4.0.1?

Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above outlines various sources and in addition the UCS Admin Guide matching your software version should be consulted.

The Pin & Extension variant requires the Network environment to provide a DHCP Option 43 and 120. These are Microsoft Standards and your Microsoft partner can assist you with this.

A Polycom phone running a LYNC Profile (explained in the admin guide) either awaits your to sign in via PIN & Extension or via your User Credentials.

You may want to work with your Polycom reseller if you require support.

Please ensure to provide some feedback if this reply has helped you so other users can profit from your experience.

My Environment:

1) Office 365 Enterprise E3 Plan

2) Lync 2013 (15.0.4605.1000) MSO (15.0.4605.1002) 64-bit, Part of Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus.

3) Microsoft Lync Enterprise Voice services (hosted by 3rd party)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phone:

Polycom vvx 600 (UC Software:  5.0.2.2185)

Polycom BToE Connector Version 2.1.0

-------------------------------------------------------------------

When I install BToE on my PC and I have an unsigned in vvx 600 phone attached to the PC.  The "Logon information needed" window pops up, on my PC, asking for 1) Sign-in Address 2) User Name 3) Password, since I am using Office 365 I enter my full email address for the first two and then the password.  But the phone then says it can not sign in to Lync.  If I look at the Sign-in fields from the phone they are populated as follows:

1) Sign-in Address (full email address)

2) User Name (domain.com)

3) Password (password)

Q1: I guess I am not able to sign-in from the BToE pop up is because I have hosted Lync/Office 365? or is this a software bug?

Q2: I am still unclear, is it possible to sign-in from the phone with a pin, given my enviornment (hosted lync/office 365)? If so what are the step by step instructions.

Q2: Does Polycom/Microsoft plan on offering Microsoft® Lync™ Phone Edition, for the vvx phones in the future?
