Hi

We have some Polycom Sound Station IP handsets which we want to configure for Microsoft Lync. We've found various PDF's on the Polycom website which suggest going into the phone menu and changing the base mode, or going on the IP of the device etc. But we do not get those options.

Were using assembly 3111-30900-001 reb g and boot rom 4.3.1.0440

I understand that the version needs to be 4.1 for Lync.
I've setup an FTP server on my machine (filezilla) and configured DHCP option 160.

I've downloaded Polycom_UC_Software_4_1_1_rts8_AA_release_sig_combined and extracted it into the FTP root directory for the user.

However i noticed in the README file that it doesn’t list the IP Sound Station as a compatible device?

Anyway when i reboot the phone i can see from the server console that it connects to the FTP Server and logs in OK. However after the phone boots it displays a message like "cannot connect to boot server, continuing with existing configuration"

Is there something im missing?

Thanks!

Hello francis88,

welcome to the Polycom Community.

The community's VoIP FAQ contains this post here:

Oct 7, 2011 Question: How can I setup my Phone / Provisioning / Download / Upgrade / Update / Downgrade Software?
Resolution: Please check => here <=

The above details how to set this up and shows example screenshots.

I suggest you post some logs from the server so we can check if the phone tries to download certain files it needs.

Hello Thank you for you reply, this is one of the guides i was looking at and i belive it is setup correctly but dosen't seem to download the firmware. How can i download the log files from the phone?

Hello francis88,

Only UC Software 4.0.0 or later allows access to the Phones log via the Web Interface and as you are not running this software you cannot.

The phone, if it successfully connects to a provisioning server , will upload its log files.

In addition I asked for the FTP server logs that you can see in the filezilla server app. You simply right click on them and copy and paste them into your reply here.

If you still struggle and the various FAQ posts do not help you can always open a support ticket.

In order to raise a support ticket you need to work with your Polycom reseller as they need to do this for you. In case this is some sort of an Internet discounter please post your phone's MAC address so I can look up who would be able to support you.

If the unit is outside warranty you can PPI / Pay Per Incident.
