5.1 audio but only one jack

I just purchased a Pavilion 590. Store advertisement said 5.1 audio. I go to set it up and there is only one jack in the back for audio out. I checked HP's website and it says if the required jacks aren't present you have to buy hardware for it to work? What is the hardware and where do I get it from. I've already set up the computer with all my software and configurations. Really don't want to take it back at this point.

Well, with ONLY one Speaker out port (green port) at it back, I can say the advertisement is a fake. But if you wish to try, please use

Realize this thread is old but some motherboards with 4 or 6 channels don't have the black (Rear Surround) and orange (Subwoofer and Center) jacks.

HP's onboard audio should use the blue jack for both line in and rear surround speakers out, and the pink jack for both mic input and subwoofer/center out.

Therefore, whenever you want to use any of these jacks for a different function, you will have to manually remove one jack connector and plug in another.
