I am having issues with a little bit of noise on the audio in (Mic and also Line In) when trying to record. The audio coming in from my Behringer X32 sound console is clean because when I use the same audio and take it to a different PC, the record is clean and fine. But when I use this new desktop PC (just purchased), I am getting a slight noise (crackle) in the audio. It is happening on the mic/combo port, the mic port on the back as well as the Line in port. I had a lot of issue getting the Line in to work initially because it would say that there was no input connected but there was. I even tried using an external audio/USB adapter and am getting the same issue. I used different recording software and no resolve. But when I go back to my other PC, everything is fine. No problems. This is happening right out of the box. I went thru the update driver process in device manager and updated the Realtek (R) audio driver to 6.0.8923.1 (3/20/20) but no resolve. I bought this PC for recording purposes but am having to revert back to my old one until this is resolved. Any suggestions?

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
Also ensure Windows is up to date.
Select the Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available
If the issue persists please run a Test on the Microphone
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the Notebook.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Audio > Microphone
Keep me posted how it goes

Thanks for the tips but no resolve. The HP tool did update 2 drivers, one of which was the audio. Windows is updated and I also did the component test after reboot. Unfortunately, there was no option to test microphone. It only gave a headset option in the menu even though the audio input was plugged in (tried with the combo port in the front and the line in and mic ports in the back) I tried that anyway the headphone test and the headphone test passed. The PC now doesn't recognize at all the audio input being plugged in to the Line in port in the back (technically that is where it should be since I am bringing in audio from a sound console and not an actual microphone). I am pretty disappointed I am having these kind of issues out the box. The stereo mix (Line in) hasn't worked right since I opened the box. Any other options I can try? I have another sound card I could install but don't know if this would have any conflicts with what's already installed.
